Plans
Runna has the deepest catalogue and the most polish. NRC's plans are good and free, but they feel more like a schedule than a coach. Miles plans start from your current fitness and rebuild when life gets in the way. That's what it's built for. Most plans assume a perfect week, and nobody has one.
During the run
NRC's guided runs are the best audio in running apps. They're motivating and genuinely kind to beginners. What they don't give you is pace guidance. Nothing tells you when you're running too fast, which can lead to injury.
Miles is more practical. It watches your pace against the target, tells you when to ease off or push, and calls the next rep in intervals. That works from the phone or the Apple Watch. Runna gives cues too, and if you run off a Garmin, Runna is the stronger setup today.
After the run
Miles shows what you ran against what was planned and gives you one next step. Runna's analysis is solid. NRC gives you the stats and a nice badge.
Price over a year
