Runna Alternatives in 2026: What to Use Instead, and When to Stay
People leave Runna for three reasons, mostly. It costs $119.99 a year in the US. Since Strava bought it, some runners would rather not keep their plan and their social feed with one company. And some find the default paces too hot.
If none of that bothers you, stay. Runna is good. If one of those is your reason, here's where to go.
Quick comparison
| Alternative | Price | Why switch | Why not |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free; Pro $99.99/yr (US) | Cheaper, live pace coaching, rebuilds after missed runs | iPhone only for now | |
| Free | Costs nothing, great guided runs | No pace guidance, which can lead to injury | |
| Free tier; £99.99/yr (UK) | Deep algorithmic adaptation | Clunky app | |
| Subscription | Proven Higdon marathon plans | Less personal | |
| A human coach | Varies widely | Real judgment, injury history | Expensive |
| Free with a Garmin | Free, uses watch physiology | Garmin only |
If your reason is price
Nike Run Club if you want free. Garmin Coach if you own a Garmin. Miles if you still want adaptive, coached training but for less: Pro is $99.99 a year or $14.99 monthly, and the free tier lets you see the plan first. TrainAsONE's free tier is also generous.
If your reason is the Strava acquisition
Miles, TrainAsONE and Run With Hal are all independent. You don't have to give Strava up, either. Miles syncs your runs to Strava, so your feed keeps going.
If your reason is aggressive paces
Runna lets you lower the intensity, and that fixes it for a lot of people. Try that first. If you want an app that sets paces from your current fitness and pulls you back mid-run, Miles' live cues do exactly that. It tells you when you've gone out too fast.
When Runna is still the better pick
Be honest with yourself here.
- You train off a Garmin and want workouts on your wrist. Runna supports Garmin.
- You're on Android. Miles is iPhone only for now.
- You want the biggest library of race plans and a big community to compare notes with.
